Edging is key to providing a barrier for weeds, grasses, and other pesty vegetation. Our team at Hoosier works hard to create a tidy appearance for your property that matches our high level of standards.
"We use 100% hardwood mulches, and we offer different colors and types. When it comes to edging your mulch beds within your turf areas, our bed edger machine creates a 4" natural edge giving your landscape a crisp, fine border."
It's important to remove and dispose of old mulch every season or two depending on the situation. At some point, it starts to smell, grow mold, and/or suffocate the soil and trees. It also causes the soil to fade in color, decay, and decompose. Old mulch should be removed with a spring clean-up.
"A thorough clean-up (spring & fall) includes pruning of ornamental trees, shrubs, and removal and disposal of all debris. It also means applying pre-emergent herbicides to stop weed seed germination, and/or the spraying of weeds and unwanted grasses."
Core aeration reduces compaction, oxidizes the soil and allows the roots to take the appropriate nutrients and grow as vigorous as possible. With a lawn aeration, the soil is perforated with small holes to allow air, water and other nutrients to reach deeper. This step is vital if the goal is to achieve your healthiest lawn.
"You can have your lawn aerated at any time, as often as you'd like, not just during the fall. In fact, most golf courses aerate weekly and/or monthly throughout the entire season."
"When it comes to new construction or regrading a property, it takes a certain skillset, the correct equipment, and premium products and materials to install a great and healthy lawn. We will grade your property with up-to-date equipment to ensure proper drainage and removal of rocks and debris from the soil. This technique guarantees an appropriate grade for an even surface and healthy turf."
Other than maintaining a fresh appearance, routine bed maintenance prevents invasions from surrounding plants, threatening weeds, pest problems, and even flower thinning. Dead excess can prevent self-growth and can inhibit the health and growth of surrounding plants.
"Bed maintenance is important to ensure a healthy and clean landscape environment for your property. Our service includes removal and disposal of all debris. It also means applying pre-emergent herbicides to stop weed seed germination, and/or the spraying of weeds and unwanted grasses."
Top dressing and overseeding is the absolute best way to renovate your lawn. Top dressing is the process of spreading a thin layer of material (usually compost or 3-way topsoil) over your lawn, or sections of your lawn. This layer is only about a 1/4″ and is meant to amend the soil of your lawn while letting the existing grass grow through the top-dressing material. It's important you don’t cover your lawn in a thick layer that suffocates it. Instead, you're looking to improve soil conditions for your existing lawn while providing a good environment for new seed to germinate.
Grub control is the process of killing grubs before they have a chance to lay eggs. This is usually done in late summer or early fall, when the grubs are most active. There are a number of different products that can be used for grub control, including insecticides and nematodes.
"We offer a product that we apply during the springtime that is warrantied for the entire season. We've had great success with this product and other products that we apply at various times of the year as well."
"Proper drainage is extremely important because it ensures that water is not collecting on and around your property -- that it's draining away from your property."
We offer professional mowing services and use top of the line Gravely equipment.
"Professionally installing new shrubs, trees, and/or a lawn is very important. It ensures that everything is done correctly. We are very detail-oriented when it comes to new construction and existing landscaping. When installing shrubs and/or trees, we carefully survey the property to best decide it's proper placement (N-E-S-W) to help achieve maximum growth. We take into account when that tree or shrub becomes mature, that where we're planting it is adequate and will not cause future problems."
